It's been a while, I know, but I've been a busy bee in the garden and if I'm honest, I'm not exactly at one with the technology yet. So whilst I'm waiting for the showers to subside, I thought I'd do a quick entry.
Update on the slug situation - I discovered a little visitor in the garden in the form of a toad. I was very excited about this and have done my upmost to encourage him to stay, which in my case means keeping the two pet felines at a safe distance, although I have been told that toads are poisonous to cats because of the odour they secrete. Harvey and Henry have had a very close up stand off with him, but he survived.
So what with Mr Toad and my new experiment of used coffee granules spread around the veg plants, I seem to be winning the fight - for now! That and the combination of the warm, wet weather has made my veg patch come on in leaps and bounds of late. The peas are at their sweetest at present and I cannot resist walking past them without having a sneaky pod or two, without Mrs W knowing - she wouldn't be best pleased, as she too, is a bit partial to them! They are so tall and I am constantly tying the new growth to the cane frame I've constructed, with Nutscene garden twine - of course!, only the very best for my peas.
